Where film earns its keep on Texas roads
Paint protection film is a clear, flexible layer that sits on top of your paint and takes the hits so the clear coat does not. Around Lewisville, those hits come from highway grit on I-35, gravel off work trucks and the steady spray of road debris that sandblasts the front of a car at speed.
The usual places to protect are the leading edge of the hood, the front bumper, the mirrors, the door edges and the rocker panels. These are the areas that collect chips first, and a chip on a freshly delivered car is the one owners notice every time they walk up to it.
Film does a job a ceramic coating cannot: it physically absorbs impact. A coating gives gloss and easy washing, film gives you a layer you can lose instead of your paint. If you are weighing the two, our ceramic coating page explains where each one belongs.
How film is laid: prep, edges and heat
The work starts before any film touches the car. Each panel is washed, decontaminated and checked under the hexagon LED inspection lights at the studio, because film laid over a speck of grit leaves that speck under it for good. The bay runs industrial-grade air filtration for the same reason.
Then comes the part that separates a clean install from a visible one: edge work. Film that stops short of a panel edge can lift and collect dirt, so our technicians wrap the film around the edge wherever the panel allows it. Heat application softens the film so it follows curves and creases without stretching thin or bridging gaps.
That edge-wrapping and heat technique is the same one we use on Tesla and Cybertruck panels, which have flat surfaces and hard edges that expose any shortcut. Our wrapping page shows how the same skill carries across to colour change.
Film plus coating: the full stack
We are certified installers for leading brands like XPEL and System X, and we also install REVIVIFY self-healing protection, which is flexible and heat-activated. The self-healing idea is simple: light surface marks in the top layer relax out with warmth instead of staying in the finish.
Many owners finish the job by coating the film. A ceramic coating over film gives the film the same slick, easy-to-wash surface the rest of the paint gets, and the whole front end beads water the same way. Film first, coating after, cured under infrared so the finish sets evenly.
Film pricing depends on how much of the car you cover and what you drive, so we quote it after we have seen the vehicle. Bring it by 519 Bennett Ln #103 in Lewisville, or tell us the year, make and model and the areas you want covered.
